Job Description

Summary

The internship program is an exciting program that will provide nursing experience as well as clinical knowledge as the individual experiences several practice situations. The program is broken down into stages, with a focus on meeting and completing competencies at each stage.

For a limited time MaineHealth is offering up to $10,000 Sign on bonus for all eligible New Grad Registered Nurses!

  • Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time RN position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.
  • Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

    1. Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
    2. License/Certifications: Current/Valid License in the State of Maine as a Registered Professional Nurse or eligibility to sit for NCLEX Exam with proof of ATT letter. Must hold current State of Maine RN license within three months of hire. Current BLS Certification.
    3. Articulates elements of professional practice and demonstrates:
      • Knowledge of Evidence Based Practice and Patient and Family Centered Care
      • Understanding of teamwork and collaboration
      • Effective verbal/written communication skills
      • Knowledge of process improvement and sound safety strategies
      • Competence with computer applications

The Medical Surgical Department is a 45-bed unit where nurses provide care for individuals across the life span (pediatrics - geriatrics) who are experiencing illness or having surgery that is appropriately cared for in an acute community hospital setting. This includes caring for patients with stroke, sepsis, exacerbation of chronic conditions or post-operative patients as just a few examples. The Med-Surg at Pen Bay provides expert care to patients requiring telemetry, progressive care, palliative care, and hospice.
