Job Description

The Electrical Power Engineering Team at the Naval Reactors Facility maintains and develops electrical power infrastructure across a 90-acre facility in support of mission critical processes of the United States Navy. We are a team of talented professionals, and we are looking for an advanced level engineer to build their career with us. The chosen individual will have the opportunity to:

  • Design, maintain, and repair critical electrical infrastructure including, but not limited to, switchgear, power panels, lighting systems, and backup power systems (UPS and Generator).
  • Provide significant contribution in the development of electrical drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Provide engineering support in areas of expertise and be able to work effectively as a team player with other engineering professionals, crafts trades personnel, management, business developers, and administrative staff.
  • Gather surveys, write reports, and develop documents using Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, OneNote, and PowerPoint.
  • Manage design with National Electrical Codes (NFPA & International Code Council) and assure design documents are prepared in compliance with these codes.
  • Prepare and issue formal correspondence.
  • Make technical recommendations.
  • Learn from seasoned professionals with industry experience.
  • Develop and mentor lesser experienced team members

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 4 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience; or Currently or previously NPE qualified; or CTE/ACRS and 1 year EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or Watch Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and 1 year as SRE.

Preferred Skills
  • 4 years of previous electrical power experience
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in working with teams
  • Familiarity with electrical trade work
  • Participation in large scale construction projects
  • Previous technical writing experience
  • Ability to draft reports, make technical recommendations, and issue formal correspondence
  • Understanding of electrical power diagrams and schematics
  • Proficient with CAD software
  • Proficient with SKM Power Tools software or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70 & 70E and familiarity other industry building codes
  • Must be flexible in work assignments

Pay Range
$83,600.00 - $130,700.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guide line only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
