Commonwealth Care Alliance (CCA) is a rapidly growing nonprofit organization, the leader in providing integrated health care and social support services to people with complex medical needs. Our patients are seniors and persons with disabilities covered under Medicaid, Medicare, or both (i.e. dual eligible). Our innovative care model is nationally recognized for its effectiveness in improving health outcomes for these vulnerable populations. The Growth and Implementation team is responsible for evaluating and implementing CCA's strategic growth priorities across different types of growth efforts including new market entries, acquisitions, strategic partnerships, applications for state procurements, and new business / product launches. In addition, the team leads initiatives to improve internal processes that enable growth. Working under the leadership of the Chief Development Officer the team is responsible for ensuring a sustainable integration of each growth opportunity into existing CCA operations, including having a clear business plan, operational and reporting structure, and leadership. The Growth and Implementation team collaborates closely with multiple functions at CCA to deliver on company priorities.



What You'll Be Doing:

Within this team, the Growth & Implementation (G&I) intern will report to the Director of G&I and will focus on a project to support a priority growth initiative (to be finalized based on interest and strategic priorities). The intern may have the opportunity to be involved in additional project work related to the team's current priorities.

Illustrative projects considered for this role include:

  • Development of decision-support tools to assess feasibility and financial implications of new growth opportunities
  • Project management around state procurement applications
  • Implementation of a strategic technology platform aimed to improve the efficiency of internal processes
  • Development and implementation of a governance structure & workplan for high-priority projects

Primary responsibilities for the intern include:

  1. Develop competitive intelligence, market research and analysis to support recommendations on best practices related to project topic
  2. Create business plans, financial models, plans for key stakeholder engagement, and timelines for execution
  3. Under the direction of the team leadership, drive day to day progress on assigned project and deliverables
  4. Support the development of meeting agendas, materials, and reports, and work across the organization to ensure follow-up
  5. Partner inside and outside the organization to identify barriers to progress and escalate to team leadership as appropriate

Additional Information

  • All internships will be paid standard and competitive rates for undergraduate and graduate levels ($23 and $25 per hour respectively). Internships are expected to be full-time through the duration of the program.

What We're Looking For:

Required:

  • Undergraduate student currently enrolled or a recent graduate within the last 2 years OR Graduate student currently enrolled or a recent graduate within the last 2 years.
  • Genuine interest in improving the health care system for individuals with high needs and find problem solving exhilarating
  • Interest in health care strategy and health plan operations
  • Proven record of leadership through work and/or extracurricular activities
  • Outstanding record of academic achievement
  • Action-oriented self-starter; must be highly organized and self-directed with an ability to work with supervision on departmental and cross-functional projects of a diverse nature
  • Ability to structure complex problems or analysis into manageable components and derive insights from a variety of data sources
  • Strong communication skills; ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization
  • Strong project management skills, ability to multi-task / switch gears effectively, and effective time management skills

Desired:

  • Graduate-level student or recent graduate with academic focus on business, health care management, or public health
