Description

The Machinist I is responsible for the operation, set-up and utilization of the 5-axis mill machines as well as the other support processes used in the prototyping and production of machined products.

Position Specific Responsibilities

  • Perform set-up and operation of 5-axis milling machines machines.
  • Inspect finish tools.
  • Perform basic TruePath and /or Mastercam operations.
  • Advise and consult with product development engineers, programmers and/or tooling department for cutting tools and tooling needed to complete projects.
  • Maintain fixtures and set-ups for use in specified projects as assigned by the product development engineer or supervisor.
  • Be alert to any changes in machine performance and operation, promptly report any issues to the maintenance department and work with them to make sure issues are resolved.
  • Inspect and document all operations as stated in the Quality Manual and based on requirements of the product development engineer.
  • Perform daily maintenance on machines.
  • Support and maintain overall shop efficiency by keeping work areas clean and safe. Report all hazards or incidents to supervisor. Cooperate and coordinate with other machinists for usage of shared shop equipment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Associates Degree in machining or approved apprenticeship program preferred.
  • 2 or more years' experience as a CNC Mill operator and/or Lathe operator including basic set-up.
  • Basic understanding of trigonometry.
  • Intermediate level in MS Office: Outlook, Word, and Excel and ERP software preferred (Epicor helpful).
  • Good knowledge of GD&T and ANSI Y 14.5.
  • Experience with blue print reading and use of metrology tools.
  • Requires lifting and carrying of up to 30 lbs. or more and standing for extended periods of time.
