Description:The Grants, Finance and Operations (GFO) team providesoperational support to various CIPE implemented projects.Specifically, the GFO team processesgrantsor contract documentations,supportsprocurementprocesses,reviews andprocessesinvoicesor otherpayments for various projects. Theintern will have a unique opportunity tobuild skills in these operations,learn about various projects and provide support to theteam insuccessfullymanaging them.
ReportsTo:Grants, Finance and Operation Team
Timeframe: This position is scheduled to start on June 1, 2021 for a period of 12 weeks. Interns must be able to commit to a minimum of 25 hours per week.
LearningObjectives:
Learn, through direct participation, about operations,finance,and contract management.
Learn abouttechnical areas such astrade facilitation activities andotherprojects in developing countries.
Develop research and presentation skills.
Network and establish professional contact by attending events held by CIPE and other DC based organizations.
Gaininsight into nonprofitmanagement activities.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
ResearchtheGlobal Alliance for Trade Facilitation (GATF)portfolio of projects and develop relevant briefing notes.
Research and develop presentations oncompleted contracts, highlight contracts requiring updates.
Complete research and propose a solution to implementfordevelopinga contract tracking system.
Provide support to the operations team to successfully manage day to dayprojectactivities.
Collaborate with the Finance team on relevant projects.
Other tasksrequired by the GFO team.
Qualifications andRequirements:
Undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate Political Science, Economics, International Relations,Law,or other related fieldstudents are encouraged to apply.
Strong research, analytical and writing skills.
Demonstrated interest in international development issuesespecially related to trade facilitation and economic development.
Abilityto consolidate and synthesize large amounts of information andpresentin an organized and concise way.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in Englishrequired.
All CIPE Summer 2021 internships will be remote. This is a paid internship. Interns are expected to start by June 1, 2021and commit to a minimum of 25 hours per week.
